The Young Women’s theme for the year 2009 is “Be ye an Example of the Believers“. The Young Women’s theme for 2008 was “Steadfast and Immovable”. Both themes speak to the youth of the church and what we as parents hope for them and see in them. I’m so grateful for the work that Jenny Phillips puts into her yearly CDs and Songbooks. I’ve taken advantage of these resources for our own ward and have been blessed by the spirit they promote.
Our New Beginings Program this year will be featuring the girls of our ward singing “Hold Our Torches High”. The first time that the girls sang it together it brought tears to my eyes. These girls are such a great example to me and all who know them. The first song on the CD (Lighthouse in the Night) is a great one for them to sing too, but the words to “Hold Our Torches High” were so perfect. To all of you young women and men who are developing a musical talent, keep it up. The spirit that these type of songs bring is awesome.
